Keese

Updated 2026-10-17· Patch 1.6.0Minor, Swarm

Keese come in four kinds, the same split as Chuchus: plain, fire, ice and electric. Each drops its own wing for armor upgrades. One bat dies to a single arrow. The problem is the cloud of plain Keese under a bridge or in a cave mouth, diving the moment their eyes turn red.

Wings, and why the cave is worse

Great Fairies count Fire Keese Wings, Ice Keese Wings and Electric Keese Wings separately from the plain wing. Fire Keese are common in Eldin caves, ice ones in Hebra, electric ones around Lanayru. They hang from the ceiling until you step into range, then dive.

A fire dive sets you alight, ice locks your movement, electric pops a metal sword out of your grip. Do not walk into a dark cave swinging a metal blade. Shoot the ones still hanging. If one is already airborne, loose the arrow as it turns, not while it is on top of the camera.

The swarm under the bridge

The aggressive cloud is plain Keese only. Red eyes mean the dive has started. On a narrow road this knocks a new player around until the hearts are gone. Do not chase them one by one. Toss a remote bomb into the middle of the cloud and detonate it. Several drop at once, and the rest peel off.

Listen before you enter a well or a tunnel. If the ceiling is already full, back up to the entrance and bomb them from there. A torch can swat the ones that reach your face, but keep the torch for plain swarms. Elemental Keese still punish a metal weapon, so the bow stays the cleaner tool when the wings you want are red, white or yellow.
