Molduga

Updated 2026-10-17· Patch 1.6.0Giant, Desert

A Molduga swims under the Gerudo sand and hunts by vibration. It is blind. Standing on open dunes is how it finds you. The fight is a loop: lure it with a remote bomb, blow the bomb while it is in the air, then hit the exposed belly before it dives again.

Stand on the rock, throw into the sand

Every Molduga arena has stone you can stand on. It cannot breach there. From the rock, toss a round remote bomb onto the sand and wait. The fin turns toward the bomb. When the body leaves the ground to swallow it, detonate. The fall stuns it on its side.

Run in and hit the pale belly. A two-handed weapon or a spear burn the stun window better than a short sword. Urbosa's Fury, if you already have it, spends a charge on a stunned Molduga and skips a lot of the timer. Then get back on the rock before it submerges. Bomb arrows also work if you can see the body, but the bomb lure is the reliable loop.

Fins, guts, and the king

Molduga fins and guts are armor-upgrade parts, and the guts in particular are awkward to replace. There are only a handful of Moldugas in the desert, so do not leave the body if your inventory was full. Come back after the blood moon when a Great Fairy is waiting on those parts.

The Champion's Ballad adds Molduking, a larger one in the same sand. The loop does not change. More health means more bomb cycles, not a new pattern. Heat-resistant gear still matters more than the weapon, because the desert will empty your hearts while you wait on the rock.
