Civilization VII World Summit Announced, Livestream to Feature Tournament and Exclusive Announcement

Hamburg, Germany – January 18, 2023 – With the launch of Civilization VII just weeks away, Firaxis Games is gearing up for a grand celebration with the Civ World Summit.

On February 8th, the studio will host a live Civilization VII tournament at the Xperion gaming zone in Hamburg. Five prominent members of the Civ community will engage in a multiplayer showdown, though their identities remain undisclosed. Community Manager Sarah Engel and renowned Civ creator PotatoMcWhiskey will serve as hosts, partnering with Rocket Beans TV.

For Twitch viewers, Firaxis has prepared a commemorative Twitch drop – a 'cavalry charge banner' cosmetic for players' in-game profiles. This can be earned by tuning into the Firaxis Games channel or partnered channels.

Intriguingly, Firaxis also teases an "exciting announcement" during the livestream. While no details have been revealed, it is unlikely to be a Civilization VIII announcement at this early stage. Post-launch plans for Civ VII may be a more probable focus.

Additional information about the Civ World Summit will be divulged in the coming weeks. If you're based in or visiting Hamburg, tickets to attend the event in person can be purchased for €5. Alternatively, the event will be streamed on the Firaxis Games Twitch Channel, Civilization YouTube Channel, or Civilization Facebook page.

Civilization VII launches worldwide on February 11th. Critics' impressions suggest significant transformations in Firaxis' latest historical strategy epic, with Robert Zak describing its age transitions as "the series' most radical and disruptive mechanic yet."
