Insomniac Games Founder Ted Price Retires, Announces Co-Studio Heads

After over three decades in the industry, Insomniac Games founder and CEO Ted Price has announced his retirement effective March 2024.

Price founded Insomniac in 1994, establishing the studio with the 1996 shooter "Disruptor." However, it was "Spyro the Dragon" that propelled Insomniac to prominence. Success continued with "Ratchet and Clank," "Resistance," "Sunset Overdrive," and more recently, the critically acclaimed "Marvel's Spider-Man" series.

In addition to his business accomplishments, Price was also recognized for his advocacy on social issues. In 2022, he publicly pressured Sony to allow studios to express their stance on abortion rights in the lead-up to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Succeeding Price at the helm of Insomniac will be a trio of "co-studio heads": Head of creative Chad Dezern, head of franchise strategy and studio relations Ryan Schneider, and head of finance Jen Huang.

Price expressed confidence in the new leadership team, emphasizing their contributions to the studio's current success and complementary skills.

Price did not disclose specific post-retirement plans, stating only that he is "excited to join the ranks of Insomniac fans" and experience future releases as a player.
