Gibdo

Put a fire fruit or a shock fruit on an arrow and shoot the body, not the ground beside it. The wrap falls away for a few seconds. That is the whole window. A spear or a fused bone during those seconds does the damage. If the wrap comes back, stop swinging and burn it again. Standing in a group and mashing attack is how you lose the weapon and the hearts.

Nests on walls and in the cemetery keep spawning them. Burn or shock the nest and it closes. Leave the nest and the fight never ends. Riju's lightning circle does both jobs at once when you are in the Lightning Temple: it strips the queen and it strips the Gibdos she calls. Outside the temple, carry a stack of fire fruit before you walk into a nest.

Gibdo bones are a fuse with a high attack and terrible durability. Put one on a weapon you only bring out for a boss, or on an arrow when you need a single heavy shot. Do not clear camps with them. Guts are monster parts for elixirs and armor upgrades. A silver Gibdo, once you can find one, is a bone you can feel on the next hit.

Queen Gibdo is the Lightning Temple boss, and she uses the same rule on a larger body. Lightning or fire breaks her wrap, then you hit the open body. She summons nests around the room. Close a nest before you chase her, or the room fills while she is in the air. After the temple, the sand shroud lifts, but Gibdos still appear in the depths of the desert until you clear those spots.
